Drawing 2
Study for Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
Colour pencil on cartridge paper
By Ijlal Olguner 2022
Permanent collection of St Patrick's College, Ballarat.
‘Drawing 2’ is a colour pencil drawing, that I did during my residency at St Patrick’s College in Ballarat, between March and April 2022.
‘Drawing 2’ is a study of an Indigenous Australian man, wearing a mask during the COVID pandemic. The mask he’s wearing depicts the symbol of the Aboriginal flag. This drawing informed the development of my painting ‘Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’, which I executed during my residency.
In early 2022, I became the recipient of the St Patrick’s College, Flanagan Artist in Residence Prize. I became the resident artist, for four weeks, at St Patrick’s College in Ballarat. During my residency there, I developed drawings and a major painting for the permanent collection of the college. I also worked closely and collaborated with the senior studio arts students of the college.
